Quality transportation and the culture enveloping it allow industry to grow, make our lives more convenient and enriching, and play a vital role in the advancement of our information-powered society. The evolution of automobile transportation in particular has enhanced both public and private mobility in terms of quality and quantity. At the same time, however, this progress has undeniablly generated numerous problems for us. Reducing accidents, diminishing the environmental impact of transportation, and making effective use of our energy resources are only some of the challenges that defy easy resolution, but demand a committed response more than ever. They require us to formulate a grand design for realizing a sustainable, exceptional mobile society in the 21st century, conduct research and make recommendations for practical problem solving, continuously support educational efforts, and engage in other such activities.
The guiding principle and duty of IATSS is to pursue interdisciplinary and internationally oriented efforts aimed at making transportation safer and worry-free.On behalf of our association, I sincerely ask for everyone's continued cooperation and support for our activities.
