Development of Research Results on Creating an Environment for Improving the Acceptability and Safety of Small Electric Mobility Vehicles
Background and Objectives
In the aforementioned research and survey project, a study has been conducted to improve the acceptability and safety of small electric mobility vehicles in Japan, while making comparisons with other countries.
However, the results, including various findings and survey analysis results obtained overseas, have not yet been compiled and published in Japan. Therefore, the purpose of this social contribution project is to produce results that are easy for the general public to understand, and to hold workshops, lectures, and training sessions in Japan in order to disseminate the research results in society.
Expected Results
It is expected that small electric mobility vehicles will become increasingly popular in Japan in the future. However, it is important to solve the problems of electric kick scooters, which are currently the focus of attention, and to deepen the public's understanding of them as a safe and socially acceptable form of mobility. It is also important to make recommendations regarding appropriate use based on data backed by scientific evidence and to compile research results to promote appropriate road space development that will contribute to improved safety. These are the issues that IATSS should address. To this end, we will exchange opinions with road administrators and operators, hold workshops and lectures in provincial cities where the use of small electric mobility vehicles is expected to increase in the future, and provide training for young people, and disseminate the results of past research while also collecting and confirming on-site needs. In addition, the results of the survey and analysis will be presented at an international conference and submitted as a peer-reviewed papers, making the research results internationally recognized. The goal is to compile both results into a publication that is easy to understand for the general public.
